On 25th May 2018, a new legislation is coming into place that will affect all businesses in the UK & EU. This is known as the GDPR which stands for General Data Protection Regulation. The new law will replace the Data Protection Act 1998 providing increased privacy for individuals and will allow authorities greater power to fine businesses for data breaches. In the unlikely event that a data breach is reported, companies will be fined up to 4% of annual turnover or 20 million Euros (whichever is greater).
