BlackBerry ‘Mercury’, Making Keyboards Cool Again.
The BlackBerry Mercury is the highly anticipated smartphone from BlackBerry. It is yet again a keyboard-sporting smartphone that will run Android from the box. Here’s what’s known about this upcoming smartphone so far.
TCL (the parent company of BlackBerry) has already mentioned releasing multiple BlackBerry smartphones in the future and the first one, which is the BlackBerry ‘Mercury’ has already been unveiled. This new smartphone was announced at CES. However, that announcement was more like a soft launch, and not a lot of details have been shared. But if rumours are to be considered, then the BlackBerry ‘Mercury’ may once again appear at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event in Q1, and hopefully, with all the relevant details included.
As for the smartphone’s specs, it’s worth noting that the official set of specs are still uncertain at this point. Based on the limited info that the web sources have to offer, it could come with a 4.5” Full HD display. As for the ports, there will be a USB C port and a standard headphone jack. Furthermore, the device could be powered by a Snapdragon 635 processor. The BlackBerry Mercury could then come with 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, and a 3400 mAh battery. As for the device’s camera, an 18 MP rear cam alongside an 8 MP front cam can be expected, according to The Inquirer.
Nevertheless, one of the most interesting things about the BlackBerry Mercury is that it will sport the iconic QWERTY keyboard that BlackBerry has been known. The added good news about it is that the phone’s keys are now innovated so that you can perform different actions on it such as scrolling. Additionally, the device will run the latest Android version, Nougat.
